MARQUETTE -- An Ishpeming man pleads no contest to one charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

In May, 36-year-old Ralph Eugene Emanuelson allegedly held a knife to his wife's throat and then threw her to the floor.

Emanuelson also shot himself when police approached after the incident.

Other charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement entered Friday morning in Marquette County Circuit Court.

Emanuelson faces up to four years in prison.

He will remain lodged in the Marquette County Jail until his sentencing hearing on July 20.
