NEGAUNEE -- A young Negaunee woman is battling cancer, but she's not doing it alone.

In April, 23-year-old Rachael Beacco was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer.  Two of her high school classmates organized a t-shirt sale, with proceeds going toward Beacco's medical expenses.

The bright blue shirts will be sold Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in Negaunee's Lakeview School cafeteria.

"Part of living in a small town is having a large sense of community, and Negaunee's really got that large sense of community," said Beacco's classmate, Cody Scanlon.  "Now with the shirts, with No One Fights Alone right on the t-shirt, that's kind of unifying us as a community."

Another benefit for Beacco will be held on July 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus in Negaunee.
