MARQUETTE -- The jury reached a verdict early Thursday afternoon in the trial of two men charged in connection to 4,000 pounds of explosives.
John Lechner, of Sault Ste. Marie, was found guilty of six counts, and acquitted of two. Ken Kasaab was acquitted on both charges he faced.
Lechner was found guilty on two counts of transportation of explosive materials, two counts of improper storage of explosive materials, one count of possession of explosives under indictment, and one count false statement to law enforcement officers. He was acquitted on charges of distribution of explosive materials and distribution of explosive materials to a convicted felon.
Lechner could face 10 years or more in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for October 18 at 9 a.m. Lechner will remain in jail, but Kasaab is free to go.
