MARQUETTE -- With Wednesday's hot and humid temperatures, beaches and parks in Marquette were packed with people.  Whether folks were sitting in the shade enjoying a picnic or taking a dip in Lake Superior, they took advantage of the first day of summer.

But, while some were enjoying the sun, others didn't welcome the sunny weather too much.

Construction crews in Marquette were doing their best to beat the heat.

"Keep a cooler or something with you to keep cold water, cold drinks, and beverages with you. Otherwise, you get way too overwhelmed with the heat and sweat, and that makes it even harder to work when you're thirsty and sweaty and stuff," said construction worker, Paul Smith.

While temperatures were on the high side, the breezy weather made spending the day outside much more bearable.
