ISHPEMING -- Four hundred people, 120 survivors, and $90,000 later, the Relay For Life in Ishpeming wrapped up this Sunday morning. The dollar amount is similar from last year's relay at the Al Quaal Recreation Area.
Organizers say the biggest hit, outside of the proceeds, is the amount of family members who participated in the Cancer Prevention Study. Nearly 200 of them gave blood, which will be studied for the next 20 years.
"It's awesome, not only that this study ends next year, then there will probably be a CPS 4, but what this has done is this has let them know that the U.P. is very serious about a project like this," said Carl Fulsher of the American Cancer Society.
Fulsher says there is great possibility the study may come back to the Copper Country next year.
