Nearly 200 people arrived at the Baraga State Park with their off-road vehicles to participate in the state park off-road trek to Twin Lakes
BARAGA -- A new off-road connecting route between Baraga and Twin Lakes State Parks is now open to the public.
Nearly 200 people arrived at the Baraga State Park with their off-road vehicles to participate in the state park off-road trek to Twin Lakes. The Department of Natural Resources cut the ribbon for the route and off the riders went.
It took the DNR Parks and Recreation division months of planning and construction to build the 35-mile connecting route.
"I think this is a great thing for the area, for the western U.P. Again, getting people outdoors. Everybody's got a four-wheeler nowadays," said Dan Dowdy, from the Baraga State Parks.
The riders traveled single file to the Twin Lakes State Park for lunch before making the return trip back to Baraga.
