FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP -- The Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post say they investigated a personal injury accident on Center Street near 2nd Street in Coburntown in Franklin Township.

Wednesday evening, two juvenile girls were driving a moped on 2nd Street when they disregarded a stop sign and collided with a pickup driven by a 35-year-old man from Dollar Bay.

Both girls sought treatment at Portage Health Hospital with minor injuries.

Police say after further investigation, they found that the driver of the pickup had been drinking, and he was arrested and lodged at the Houghton County Jail for OWI (operating while intoxicated).

The accident is still under investigation.
