ISHPEMING -- The man charged with homicide in Ishpeming appeared in court on Monday morning.
Jacques (Jack) Earl Carpenter, 52, is charged with homicide, open murder, unlawful imprisonment, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
The charges Carpenter faces are from an incident that occurred in Ishpeming on Friday. Officers responded to the scene of a shooting at a residence in Ishpeming. When they arrived, they found that one man had been shot dead.
The person who was found dead has been identified as 29-year-old David Scott Meyer, Jr. Authorities believe Meyer and Carpenter were having an argument before the shooting.
Carpenter will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on June 21 at 3:45 p.m.
