MUNISING -- Upper Peninsula residents were offered a special treat Saturday in one of the U.P. premier destinations.

For Saturday only, Yoopers were able to hitch a ride on the premier tour of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore from Pictured Rocks cruises in Munising. Fortunately the weather held out for a beautiful trip. This came to the delight of the 921 Yoopers who took advantage of the freebie.

The company says the event is a great way to promote their business while boosting the local economy.

"I think it's good for our business. It's good for the U.P. because people get to experience the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and it's good for the local community," said manager John Madigan.

Also featured was a fundraiser for a seven-year-old Munising girl who's recovering from being seriously injured after dogs attacked her. The Miracles for Makayla fundraiser raised more than $1,000 from generous cruisers.
