HOUGHTON -- On Thursday a 19-year-old female driver from Calumet collided with a motorcyclist.

The Houghton Police Department says the accident happened at the M-26/US 41 interchange on the south side of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge.

The female driver failed to yield the right of way and hit a 33-year-old man from Chassell.

Officials say the male driver was not wearing a helmet and Mercy Ambulance took him to Portage Health Hospital.

The current condition of the male driver is unknown. The female driver was ticketed for improper lane change.
