CALUMET -- Every Wednesday, the Keweenaw Family Resource Center invites kids and their parents to enjoy "Playtime at the Park," and this past Wednesday it was extra special.

Fourth grade students from Calumet gave away their favorite children's books.  The students also got a chance to sit down and read the books to the younger kids.  Inside each book, students left a handwritten note describing their favorite part of the book.

"It's important to pass along their love of reading.  We talked about reading books anywhere and anytime, and what could be a more beautiful place than the park in June," said CLK fourth grade teacher, Kathy Wetton.

The school says students are participating in service learning, and not only are they doing something great, but it's very meaningful when it involves those in the community.

This project has been going on for the past six years.
