HARVEY -- A U.S. Senate hopeful from Michigan is making the rounds in the U.P. Prior to a luncheon at Wahllhstrom's Restaurant in Harvey, Republican Clark Durant visited fire crews in Newberry to see their progress on Saturday.
At the luncheon, Durant spoke to voters about his views on less spending, less government, and less taxes in order to allow small business growth. The candidate says he is not opposed to mining and drilling in the Upper Peninsula.
"We don't have to drill in the Great Lakes, but there's plenty of oil and natural gas that we can develop for our people, creating American Jobs for American taxpayers, instead of depending frankly on foreign oil and foreign energy resources. We should be developing our own," said Durant.
Congressman Dan Benishek joined the program as well.
