Rain will persist through most of Saturday's forecast. Expect a steady light rain all day, but it will be concentrated in the central and eastern counties due to a low pressure system that is moving away from the UP. Temperatures will be below average with most highs in the 50s. It will be cooler near Lake Superior with a breezy northwest wind, and warmer into the 60s in the western interior.
Rain will slowly continue to move eastward Saturday night. A light rain will likely continue until well after midnight, but ultimately lighten up as that low pressure system moves away from us. Lows will fall into the mid and upper 40s. Northwest winds should decrease in strength overnight.
Saturday's rain could exceed half an inch out east.
Things are looking better for Sunday. Skies will steadily clear up to become partly to mostly sunny in the afternoon. The most clouds and possibly some lingering rain will be in the far eastern UP. Most highs will be upwards of 60, but again cooler near Lake Superior with a northwesterly wind. It will likely be over 70 along the Wisconsin line.
Sunday night will see lows in the 40s and an increase in cloud cover again. You may see some spotty showers on Monday, but greater chances of rain are for Tuesday and Wednesday as a cold front will pass.
On a note of astronomical interest, Venus will be passing in front of the Sun on June 5th. The Transit of Venus will be a huge event for astronomers as it will be more than 100 years before we can see it again. You can find one of the websites offering a live feed on the 5th here.
