MARQUETTE -- Petunia Pandemonium will kick off Friday and volunteers are still needed.  The project is put on by the Marquette Beautification and Restoration Committee and plants flowers along US-41 in South Marquette.  Area students will help plant Friday at 10 a.m., and the project will be finished up on Saturday.

"It would be impossible to fund this project without having volunteers. It's already a $13,000 project for our committee. And the experience that the volunteers get, they just take immeasurable satisfaction in driving by all summer and watching their plants grow," said Barb Kelly, Chairperson for Petunia Pandemonium.

The lanes closest to the planting will be closed for the volunteers' safety.  The planting will take about an hour and will be followed by a picnic with food donated by local businesses.
