CRYSTAL FALLS -- Forest Park science classes participated in a classroom trout project.  After six months of nurturing, their fish are finally ready to be released.

Their science teacher, Erich Ziegler, received the donated brook trout eggs from the Watersmeet Trout Hatchery.  The classroom project provides students a hands on opportunity to understand life cycles and ecology.

"They get to study life cycles, they get to study ecology, they get to practice real world science, and then we release them at the end of the year," said Ziegler.

The students went to Fortune Trout Pond to release approximately 100 fish.  Ziegler says students enjoy the project and believes it gives them a better appreciation for Michigan's ecosystem.
