IRON MOUNTAIN -- Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette was the guest speaker at the Kiwanis and Rotary Club joint meeting in Iron Mountain Tuesday.

The Attorney General spoke to club members about a public safety plan to hire more police in Michigan.  But it comes at a time when the state is considering reducing the number of judges.  When asked if this would congest the court and jail system, Schuette said we can't afford not to do it.

"The real point is we need to send a message that violent repeat offenders, there's no place for them in the state of Michigan," said Schuette.

Currently the state has four cities in the FBI's top ten most violent cities in the nation.
