BARK RIVER -- The Bark River-Harris school has a class full of published authors, and these writers are only six and seven year old first graders.  They recently took part in a cross curriculum lesson on writing.

The students chose an animal, researched it, and wrote a non-fiction story and poems about their animal.  All the books were published at www.mixbook.com.  Their teacher came up with the idea after attending a technology workshop in February.

"I hope that the love of reading and writing and science and technology will all continue. I hope the kids can do this project from home even, creating their own books," said first grade teacher, Leah Lesnieski.

Lesnieski says she's looking forward to doing this project with students again next year.
