NIAGARA, WI -- Niagara Fire Chief Shawn Brown says Wednesday's fire at the Niagara Paper Mill drained the city's resources.  They're now seeking compensation from the owner of the mill, Niagara Development, to cover costs.

Wednesday's blaze was an all day battle for firefighters.  Five fire departments were out on the scene.  Fifty firefighters, nine tankers and three fire trucks used over 100,000 gallons of water to battle the blaze.

A torch cutting the roof during the demolition caused the fire.  The damage was on the east end of mill mainly to the roof and an unused area that was also being torn down.

The area that was damaged was being cut away regardless and has not caused the demolition process to stop.
