MARQUETTE -- Three years of hard work paid off Thursday night as the Ore Dock Brewing Company opened its doors to the public. Brew master Nick Van Court has crafted six varieties of beer with plans for more on the way.

The doors opened at five Thursday night, and the Ore Dock's first official customer was Marquette Mayor John Kivela.  The owners say they want this to be more than just a brewery.

"Our hope is to make this a community meeting place. Yes it's a brewery, but at the same time, it's a place where a lot of other ideas start as well," said Corey Stiles, part owner of the Ore Dock Brewing Co. "This has really been a community affair getting this place turned from the garage to the brewery it is now. We're elated to be opening up right now."

Work on the upstairs is still ongoing.  The hope is to have it ready for the 4th of July.  For more information on the Ore Dock Brewing Company, click here.
