MARQUETTE -- There's some funky music making its way to Marquette this week when the band Funktio busts a beat at the Up Front & Company Thursday night.
Funktion has performed there twice before, and they are back again by popular demand.
"They know how to get people worked up, and if you're not in the mood to have a good time, I wouldn't show up," said Mike Walker, event coordinator at Up Front.
Based in Kalamazoo, the band has extended its presence beyond the Great Lakes State. Their rhythm-driven music has had audiences moving and grooving at concerts in neighboring Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota.
Back in Marquette, the Up Front is looking to Funktion to kick start its summer concert season.
"Traditionally these weeks between graduation and Memorial Day can be kind of slow, so a band like Funktion, you know, would hopefully attract everybody and their aunt to come in, have a cocktail and shake it a little bit," Walker said.
If you want to see the band at Up Front, there is a $3 cover charge for those 21 years old or older and $5 for those 18 through 20 years of age.
The band hits the stage at 11:30 p.m.
