Fatal crash involves deer and motorcycle

POUND, WI -- A fatal crash in Marinette County was the result of a deer being struck by a motorcycle, according to authorities.

At 6:35 a.m. on Sunday morning, the Marinette County Sheriff's Department was contacted regarding a crash between a deer and a motorcycle.  The rider, 39-year-old Calvin Stoffregen of Mountain, Wisconsin, was traveling on Lentz Rd. when he struck a deer, according to the sheriff's department.

Stoffregen was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marinette County Sheriff's Department says this is the third fatal crash in Marinette County in 2012, and the incident is still under investigation.
