MARQUETTE -- Saturday was opening day for the Downtown Marquette Farmer's Market. Hundreds gathered to see what the 47 vendors had to offer. There was a huge variety of food and produce. Others sold specialty items, crafts, and plants to start a garden. The Farmer's Market is officially sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority. If you don't have cash, you can get market money with your credit and debit cards. The weather was perfect for an afternoon outdoors.

"It looks great, the vendors' booths look great, and the customer base is wonderful. I feel like this gets better every year, and we want to thank the Marquette community for supporting this market for so many years. We really appreciate it," said Sarah Monte, Market Administrator.

The Downtown Marquette Farmer's Market will be open every Saturday outside the Marquette Commons between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. through October 27, rain or shine.
