The mine was shut down a week ago to replace an electric cable that needed immediate attention

MARQUETTE CO. -- The Tilden Mine is reopening Friday with pellet production resuming Friday night.

The mine was shut down a week ago to replace an electric cable that needed immediate attention. Repairs to the cable were first expected to take 10 days, but the job got done earlier. A Cliff's official says the repairs made during the past week will keep the Tilden Mine running through early June, which was the scheduled shutdown for maintenance.
