SKANEE -- Are cougars coming to the Upper Peninsula?

The Department of Natural Resources confirmed the sighting of a cougar in Baraga County on May 8.  The cougar was spotted near Skanee in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

According to the DNR, the cougar did not appear to have a radio collar on it, which was witnessed in previous cougar sightings (shown in the video above).  They based this on photographic evidence and information from the person who took the photograph.

An official statement is expected from the DNR on Wednesday, and we will post more information when it comes in.
