MARQUETTE COUNTY -- A portion of the Tilden Mine was shut down Thursday.

According to a Cliffs spokesperson, a maintenance project that was scheduled for June 6 was moved up after it was discovered an electrical cable had a high temperature reading.  They decided to fix the problem now before it develops into something more serious.

The concentrator will be shut down for four days; the pellet plant will be shut down for ten days.  Employees will continue to work during the maintenance period.  Pit operations will continue.
