MUNISING -- The two US Army soldiers who intended to go AWOL have been sentenced in Alger County court.

Twenty-year-old Powers Ashley Goldwire and 21-year-old Matthew Shay Cox of Radford, Virginia were sentenced to 80 days in jail with credit for 80 days already served.

The pair had been charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon after they were picked up by Munising police in February.  Authorities say the two were attempting to enter Canada with the intentions of going AWOL.

They are now expected to return to Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
