ISHPEMING -- Planning for the Ishpeming Fourth of July parade and community picnic are underway, and vendors are needed.

This year's theme for the parade is Celebrating our Mining Heritage, and the parade will be held in downtown Ishpeming on the Fourth of July.  Organizers brought back the community picnic last year to continue the festivities.

The picnic will take place the Al Quaal Recreation Area following the parade.  The parade and picnic provide a classic celebration for the holiday.

"We just want to make sure that it's a great time for everyone," said Elizabeth Peterson of the Greater Ishpeming Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce.  "We'll have music and kids games, and so it's a really good, fun day of traditional family celebration."

If you are interested in signing up for the parade or would like to be a vendor at the community picnic, head over to the GINCC website.
