Dozens of people rallied Saturday at the boat launch in Houghton

HOUGHTON -- Dozens of people rallied Saturday at the boat launch in Houghton.

With signs in hand they marched across the Portage Lake Lift Bridge in support of labor and union jobs. During the rally, democrat Scott Dianda announced his campaign for state representative and urged people to get out and vote. They are petitioning to get the Protect Our Jobs Campaign on the ballot as a constitutional amendment to protect people's collective bargaining rights with employers.

"Labor is good for the middle class, and the middle class is good for America, so we're reminding people that solidarity is a good thing and it increases wages and it makes everybody's life better," said supporter Elize Matz.

The message is to get out and vote.
