MARQUETTE -- A local veteran is celebrating his 100th birthday at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.  Raymond Sischo was born in Wisconsin and moved to the Rapid River area when he was eight.  He served in World War II in the Pacific theatre, and when he returned home, he took up farming in Trenary.  He has been very active and lived independently until one month ago when he moved into the Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

"To be able to celebrate it here in the Jacobetti Home is really great. These people here are just so wonderful to work with; the staff, I just can't say enough good things about them. So to be able to do this here is just great," said Ray Sischo, Jr.

Sischo's advice for longevity?  "A little bit of everything and not too much of any one thing."  Another party is planned for Sischo on Saturday in Escanaba.
