The League of Women Voters of the Copper Country held their annual meeting Sunday

HANCOCK -- The League of Women Voters of the Copper Country held their annual meeting Sunday.

Each year, the group focuses on a topic of great importance that is aligned with the National League of Women Voters. For 2012, the Copper Country chapter decided to study the federal government's role in funding education and the effects of cyber and charter schools in their community.

The group has long-since considered itself a non-partisan association that prides itself on the diversity within its membership.

"Anyone with any belief system is free to join, the more the merrier actually," said President Fredi deYampert. "So far debates and conversations become heated and challenging and well rounded, so we love everyone with various backgrounds."

For more information on upcoming events for the league, visit their website.
