MARQUETTE (AP) -- A federal judge has suspended an order allowing the forced medication of a mentally ill man who is charged with placing a bomb outside a Detroit federal building.

Judge Allan Edgar says he'll hear an appeal on May 7 in federal court in Marquette. A magistrate judge had given the green light to prison officials to medicate Gary Mikulich of Kingsford who has declined to take medicine to improve his mental health. Mikulich is charged with leaving a tool bag with explosive components outside the McNamara Federal Building in Detroit last year.
