MICHIGAN (AP) -- A few unwanted, invasive Sea Lampreys from the Great Lakes have been shipped to England for use in a traditional pie for Queen Elizabeth II.

The eel-like creatures were requested from the Great Lakes Fishery Commission since they're protected in England.  The pie is for June's Diamond Jubilee, the 60th anniversary of the Queen's ascent to the throne.

The commission shipped two pounds of frozen lamprey from Lake Huron and plans to officially present on May 4.

Lampreys got into the Great Lakes from the Atlantic Ocean through shipping canals in the 1920s and have been a threat to the fishery ever since.
