MARQUETTE -- The Wildcat Battalion of ROTC cadets held their annual awards banquet on Thursday afternoon.

The banquet is a chance to honor cadets who excel academically and physically.  This year's group of cadets are being trained to combat terrorism here and abroad.

Leaders in the ROTC say the skills taught will be useful throughout the cadets' lives.

"This program makes these students excellent citizens, it makes them more professional," said ROTC Trainer Captain Ben Hormann.  "The way that they walk, the way that they talk, they have to uphold the standards of the Army and the standards of the ROTC department."

Hormann also said this year's cadets showed exceptional physical prowess.  The cadets who will be graduating will go on to summer training courses and will serve as officers in the U.S. Army.
