Halpin named 8th District Commander for MSP

MARQUETTE -- This Sunday, Upper Michigan will have a new man in charge of the Michigan State Police 8th District.  He's Detective 1st Lieutenant, John Halpin.
    
The 52-year-old Halpin is being promoted to captain and will command all state police operations in the U.P.  He'll be based out of headquarters in Marquette, however, he's from Manistique.
    
Halpin has been with the Michigan State Police for more than 20 years.  He takes over for Captain Myles McCormack who retired.
