ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- The NICE School Board gathered Tuesday night for a special meeting to discuss finding a new superintendent.  Current superintendent Mike Haynes has accepted a new position out of state.

The board is looking to hire a recruiting agency to find the best candidate for the job.  That process could take several months, so in the meantime they'll need an interim superintendent.

"There are always challenges with trying to find your chief education officer for your community, and I don't think that this will be any different," said NICE School Board President, Brett French.   "At this point, I think there is a good pool of very qualified candidates out there, and we're looking forward to the process."

The board is keeping their options open but plan to have a temporary fill-in take over in mid-June.
