MARQUETTE COUNTY -- Low humidity, warm temperatures and wind means a red flag day and a great combination for wildfires.
So far we've been lucky in Upper Michigan. The woods are drying out fast and in some areas are already at dangerous levels. The wildfire index is very high Tuesday, going into the evening.
The Red Flag warning means conditions are ripe for a wildfire, and is in effect until 8 p.m. on Tuesday. No burning permits are being issued by the Department of Natural Resources.
There have been some small spot fires that have been handled by local fire departments. One was in Republic Township Tuesday afternoon.
If you do spot as fire, call 911 right away.
