A representative from Michigan Consumers for Healthcare discussed the Affordable Care Act and what it means for consumers
MARQUETTE -- Students at NMU got a real-life lecture Friday about the importance of health care reform and how it affects them.
A representative from Michigan Consumers for Healthcare discussed the Affordable Care Act and what it means for consumers. The statewide initiative has shown that many consumers don't know what exactly the law entails. Parts of the act are geared toward students who are allowed to remain on their parents' insurance until the age of 26.
"We're out in the community, we're trying to teach people about what the Affordable Care Act is, try to get some feedback from them, how they'd like to see our health care system look. Then we take that back to our elected officials in Lansing and let them know what the consumers need and what we want for our health care system," said Regional Coordinator for MCH Eli Isaguirre.
