DELTA COUNTY -- The verdict is in, guilty of second degree child abuse by reckless act.

It was a unanimous verdict reached on the fifth day of trial for 23-year-old Allen Joseph Brunette, who was accused of beating a four-year-old child.

Brunette was tearful as the unanimous verdict was read in Delta County Circuit Court at around 11:30 a.m.  The conviction carries a maximum prison sentence of four years.

Brunette will be back in circuit court on June 1 for his sentencing.
