CRYSTAL FALLS -- A family in Iron County dug into a major project by moving the first shovel of dirt for their soon-to-be new home on Thursday.  The father and daughter were selected by Habitat for Humanity six months ago for the home.

Now with the paperwork finished, the building process is beginning for a brighter future.

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing ministry with a mission to eliminate substandard housing.  Contributions come from people in all walks of life and in many forms, including construction work.

Thursday's family, Bob and Autumn Conibear, first applied a year and a half ago and are anxious to finally see the wheels in motion.

"I help to pick a lot of the families that we have in our homes, and it makes me so proud and so happy for the Conibear family.  Autumn will have her own bedroom which will be a first in a long time," said Habitat for Humanity Menominee River Chapter Executive Director, Nancy Pellegrini.

Thursday was just a quick dig in the dirt, but it won't be long before volunteers are ready to go, building the new home for the Conibears.
