MARQUETTE -- An Escanaba woman has agreed to plead guilty in a fraud case related to Hurricane Katrina.

The U.S. government says 60-year-old Shirley LaMarch and husband Michael applied for federal assistance in 2005, claiming their residence in New Orleans was damaged.

They received a check for $2,000, but the Escanaba couple didn't have property there.

LaMarch was due in federal court in Marquette Wednesday, but the hearing was cancelled.  Lawyers plan to meet with the judge Friday.

LaMarch's husband was also charged, but he died in November.
