Former Congressman to practice in front of U.S. Supreme Court

UPPER MICHIGAN -- Former U.P. Congressman Bart Stupak, 60, is now a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Bar. He was sworn in Monday.

Stupak is a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. and a private practice attorney.

"Most of what I do now is legal work, so being able to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court is a good fit, something I always wanted to do," said Stupak.

Stupak left Congress in 2010 after serving 18 years as U.S. Representative in Michigan's First District. He graduated from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1981 and is a former Michigan State Trooper.

Stupak is now on the Cooley Law School Board of Directors. He was elected to the board last month.
