DELTA COUNTY -- Allen Joseph Brunette, 23, was in court again on Tuesday for the second day of the child abuse trial.

The defense gave opening statements on Tuesday morning, and the prosecutor started calling witnesses.  The first and second witnesses were nurses with OSF St. Francis Hospital.

The third witness was a Delta County Sheriff's Deputy.  The witness testified that Brunette said he had anger issues.  He also told the deputy that he only hit the child once.  Brunette also said that the 4-year-old child was always having accidents and getting hurt.

The courtroom then broke for lunch.

Brunette is still being held in the Delta County Jail on $15,000 cash bond.
