11 mailboxes damaged and destroyed

ELY TOWNSHIP -- The Marquette County Sheriff's Department is investigating the damage and destruction of at least 11 mailboxes in Ely Township.

The incident happened on Sunday, between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. according to authorities. At least 11 mailboxes were found damaged or destroyed on County Road C.D. and on the southern end of County Road 581. Authorities say numerous items of evidence were collected from the scene of the crime.

The destruction of mailboxes is considered a federal offense.

The sheriff's department is looking for any information regarding this incident. If you witnessed the events or any suspicious behavior, please call the sheriff's office at (906) 225-8435.
