MARQUETTE -- It was a first for the Criminal Justice Association at Northern Michigan University: a dodgeball tournament.
The tournament is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Michigan. It was organized with the Law Enforcement Torch Run. There were five teams and each donated $200. A bake sale helped raise even more money. This is the first annual dodgeball tournament for the association.
"I think for the first year it's going really well. Next year we're looking forward to having more teams, but everyone seems to be having a great time, lots of smiles, lots of fun, they're really getting into it," said Kelsey Sipple, president of the CJA at NMU.
Half-time entertainment involved a dance competition.
