The Delta County Master Gardener Association hosted their conference at a new location at the Escanaba High School this year

ESCANABA -- Spring fever is in the air, and local gardeners were able to pick up some tricks of the trade to put to use this season.

The Delta County Master Gardener Association hosted their conference at a new location at the Escanaba High School this year. The conference featured vendors and 15 different classes. Organizers say the U.P. weather can make gardening difficult, but it's easy to work around.

"You just need to know what the conditions are and respond appropriately. That's what our classes do, teach you what is special about the U.P.," said Darolyn Spannuth, an organizer.

The 2013 conference has already been planned. It is scheduled to take place April 13.
