HOUGHTON -- Dial Help, a crisis line in Houghton, is in need of community volunteers.

The basic crisis line training consists of 30 hours spent in the classroom and 30 hours with a seasoned staff member.  The community based services consist of 30 house of basic training and an additional eight hours of sexual assault services.

Dial Help says volunteers are never left alone on their first call and the staff will be there to help you build confidence and improve the skills you already have.

"It's really a wonderful experience that not only can you use in your crisis line, but your day to day," said Volunteer Coordinator Angel Kenneally.  "It's how to talk to people, how to make them feel more comfortable, how to move within a conversation without giving advice, but still being positive."

If you'd like to find out more on how to become a volunteer visit the Dial Help website.
