MARQUETTE -- United State Olympic Education Center (USOEC) athletes are teaming up with the Marquette Beatification and Restoration Committee for the 34th annual Spring Clean-Up.

The athletes got their gloves on and walked up and down Lakeshore Boulevard, picking up any trash they saw.

"It's really important to give back to the community.  I mean, we train out here all the time.  We use the roads, whether it's skating or running.  So it's really important to keep them clean and nice for everyone else to use," said USOEC athlete, Lauren Ziegelmeyer.

Over forty clubs and groups have offered to clean up the city for this year's spring clean-up.

The Beautification Committee is asking business owners and residents to take a close look at their property, encouraging them to rake, repair, and tidy up as they see fit.  The committee is also encouraging community members to plant flowers to brighten up the city.
