HOUGHTON -- A Calumet man who walked away from a work crew was arraigned on Wednesday in Houghton County District Court.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jeremy Nordstrom was serving a probation violation for larceny when the Houghton County Sheriff's Department reported Nordstrom walked away from a work crew at the Houghton County Arena in Hancock on March 20.
He was taken into police custody without incident last Wednesday. Nordstrom now faces three counts. Count one is escape from a misdemeanor jail sentence, and count two is escape from lawful custody which is also a misdemeanor.
"You're charged with larceny of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000. This is a felony punishable by up to five years in the state penitentiary and a fine of up to $10,000," said Judge Mark Wisti.
Nordstrom's bond is set at $10,000 and he will be back in court for a preliminary examination April 25 .
