MUNISING -- The Alger Community Band will be saying farewell to its band director with a special concert on Friday.  For the past two years Northern Michigan University tuba major Lance Dubay has led the band.  Dubay is transferring to Wayne State University to finish his degree in music.  This Friday at the Mather Auditorium he will lead his band one final time.

"With Lance's enthusiasm and intensity its certainly contagious we all just get wound up in what he's trying to do and he's technically trying to really perfect us and so we get caught up in that.   We really try hard to make the music sound like it should with a lot of character and depth," said Chris Case President of the Alger Community Band.

Dubay said that he is looking to end his run as band director with a bang.  He's prepared the band to play classical favorites and some more complex songs.  The performance will be Friday at 7:30pm at the Mather Auditorium in Munising.
