HANCOCK -- Could you walk around the entire day without shoes?

That's exactly what some students at Finlandia University did to bring awareness to children all around the world who can't afford shoes.  The event is called A Day Without Shoes, and it's sponsored by a shoe company called TOMS, which donates shoes to children.

Even though it was a challenge for some, many students left their shoes at home and walked around barefoot.

"Last year I made a list of things I wanted to do before I die, and number eight on my list of things was to start a movement and I feel like a lot of people here are really unaware of things that are outside of the U.S. and I just really wanted to bring it to their attention," said organizer Leah Kanost.

Students who were a part of the event passed out stickers and even made their very own t-shirts to show their support.

This is a nationwide event that started on a college campus and last year it drew in more than 250,000 participants.
